Privacy policy

Pocketrate is a currency converter. This page explains what the app and this website do with data. We keep it to the minimum the features need.
What stays on your phone
Your amounts, chosen currencies, home country, language and settings are stored on your device. Conversions are calculated on your device.
What our server receives
- Rate requests. The app asks our server for exchange rates. The request carries a random install identifier generated on your device. It is not linked to your name, email or contacts, and it is used to prevent abuse.
- App registration. Each time the app starts it registers with our server. We store the random install identifier, your platform (iOS or Android), your home currency and the time the app was last seen. The push notification token is stored only if you allow notifications.
- Rate alerts. If you create an alert, we store it (currency pair, direction, target) with your install identifier, so we can check it and send the notification.
- Purchases. Purchases are handled by Apple or Google and by RevenueCat. We store a RevenueCat app user identifier and whether it has an active Pro subscription. We never see your payment details.
Ads
The free version shows banner ads on four screens: the converter, charts, alerts and world time. Ads are served through AppLovin MAX, a mediation service that works with third-party ad networks. AppLovin may process your device's IP address, your advertising identifier (on iOS only if you allow tracking) and data about how you interact with ads, to show and measure ads, under its own policy: applovin.com/privacy. Where required, the app asks for your consent first. Buying ad removal or Pro removes the banners.
Crash reports
The app sends crash and error reports to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.). A report contains your device model, OS version, app version and the error details. It does not contain your name or email. See sentry.io/privacy.
Notifications
We ask for permission to send notifications only when you create your first alert. You can turn them off at any time in your phone settings.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We use service providers to run the app: Cloudflare (hosting and data storage), Expo (push notification delivery), RevenueCat (purchases), AppLovin and its ad networks (ads) and Sentry (crash reports).
Website
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The converter page requests exchange rates from our server, and pages load fonts from Bunny Fonts, a font service that receives your IP address to deliver them and states that it does not log or keep it.
Retention and your choices
Install, alert and push token records are kept while the app is in use. Installs with no push token that have not been seen for 180 days are removed automatically, together with their alerts.
You can delete your server data in the app under Settings → “Delete my data”. This removes your install record, push token and alerts from our server. You can also email hello@pocketrate.app from the device you use; include your install identifier if you can, you can find it in Settings. Purchase status is tied to your RevenueCat identifier and is kept so your purchase keeps working.
Children
Pocketrate is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

If this policy changes, we update the date above.
